Laser skin resurfacing uses controlled energy to treat the surface and underlying layers of the skin, prompting the skin’s own repair process. It is used for texture, tone, pigmentation, fine lines and the appearance of scarring.
“Resurfacing” covers a wide range of intensities, and that range is the whole point. A lighter treatment means less downtime and a course of sessions; a deeper one means more recovery but fewer visits. Neither is automatically the right answer — it depends on what you are treating, your skin, and how much downtime your life can absorb.
Expect redness and a warm, sunburn-like feeling afterwards, with the skin flaking or peeling as it recovers. How long that lasts depends entirely on the depth of treatment, which is something to plan around — we will tell you before you book, not after.
Sun protection afterwards is not optional. Skin that has just been resurfaced is more vulnerable to pigment change, and Houston sun is unforgiving year-round. We will also tell you which of your current products to pause and when to restart them.
Depth, timing and how it fits around your calendar are all decided at your consultation. You can see outcomes from our own patients on the results page, and contact us with any question.
