HIGH-INTENSITY FOCUSED ULTRASOUND (HIFU)

High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a relatively new cosmetic treatment for skin tightening that some consider a noninvasive and painless replacement for face lifts. It uses ultrasound energy to encourage the production of collagen, which results in firmer skin.

PLASMA-FIBROBLAST LIFT

A Plasma-Fibroblast treatment is a nonsurgical skin-tightening procedure that uses a high-energy discharge to make a small wound in the skin. This can encourage fibroblast cells to repair the skin and maintain firmness. During the treatment, a pen-like device is used to cause minor damage to the skin, which triggers a process of regeneration.

Choosing between the approaches

The two treatments described above work differently, and which one suits you depends on what is actually causing the laxity you are seeing, where on the face or body it is, and how much recovery time you can give it. That is a conversation, not a menu choice — and it is the main reason we ask for a consultation before booking either.

What to expect generally

Skin tightening is gradual by nature. Both approaches work by prompting the skin’s own repair and collagen-building response, and that process takes time — changes typically continue developing over weeks to months rather than appearing the day after treatment. Anyone promising an immediate lift is describing something else.

For the same reason, these treatments are usually planned as a course with a maintenance interval afterwards, rather than as a one-off.

Related treatments

Tightening is often planned alongside, or instead of, treatments aimed at surface texture and tone. Depending on what you want to change, these may be more appropriate:

Is it right for you?

Suitability depends on your skin, your medical history and what you are trying to achieve, and there are people for whom neither approach is the right answer. We would rather tell you that at a consultation than after you have paid for a course. See our before and after results, or ask us a question.
